Intern to CEO: Sam Jackson | 20th November 2019 | 7PM-8.30PM

Location: Arboretum: Work & Playroom, 2a Charing Cross Rd, London, WC2H 0HF

We are delighted to announce the return of our Intern to CEO series of events, in which successful heads of organisations tell us about their journey through the arts.

Sam Jackson, Senior Managing Editor at Global Radio, will discuss his career journey, from his days as a student doing a placement at BBC Radio York to his role today where he is responsible for the entire on-air output of three stations - Smooth, Classic FM and Gold - which together reach a combined audience of over 12 million listeners per week.

Sam read Music at the University of York and worked for BBC Television before moving into radio, where he has held a variety of roles over the last fifteen years. For five years, Sam also moonlighted as a presenter on the children’s radio station FUN Kids, where he got to talk to an audience of seven-year-olds about Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers.

5 FACTS ABOUT SAM

  1. Sam is currently Managing Editor at Global, running Classic FM, Smooth Radio, Smooth Country, Smooth Chill and Gold
  2. He is a board member of Trinity Laban and Young Classical Artists Trust
  3. Earlier this year, Sam was made an honorary fellow of the Royal Academy of Music
  4. He was TWICE chosen for the the Radio Academy 30 under 30
  5. In 2012 Sam was the only person working in radio to be named in the Music Week 30 under 30!

Sam will be interviewed by Maddy Shaw-Roberts who is the Senior Digital Content Editor for Classic FM. She spends her time growing Classic FM’s online presence through, and not limited to, the use of quizzes, choral memes and videos of cats who sit on pianos. Over the last two years, Maddy has interviewed and filmed with some of classical music’s most exciting names – from Eric Whitacre and Danielle De Niese to Hans Zimmer. In her spare time, she can be found playing the piano, attempting to master the ukulele and singing with the London Concert Choir.

Join us at the Arboretum Work and Playroom on Charing Cross Road - part of the exclusive LIBRARY private members club! After the event we'll all go for a drink nearby.
