Workshop | Unconscious bias: What is it and what can we do? - YPIA Event

Workshop | Unconscious bias: What is it and what can we do? | 11th November 2020 | 6:30pm

Location: Zoom (zoom.us)

For this YPIA Cardiff event we're joined by Ele Hicks from Diverse Cymru for an interactive workshop all about unconscious bias. This workshop is an introduction to the topic. It will include a chance to raise your questions, talk about your experiences and discuss the topic. Through this event we want to help you start to understand what ‘unconscious bias’ is and give you the foundations to recognise and overcome your own unconscious bias. With the hope of making arts organisations, venues and the industry, a more open and diverse environment to work in. Key discussion points:

  • What is unconscious bias and where does it come from?
  • How different forms of unconscious bias are found in everyday life.
  • How can we change ourselves to overcome our unconscious bias
This event will take place on Zoom and will be led by YPIA's Cardiff Regional Ambassador Angharad Muir-Davies alongside Diverse Cymru's Ele Hicks. Although this is a YPIA Cardiff event, we welcome attendees from all around the UK. The event will consist of the presentation on Unconscious Bias from 6:30 - 7:30pm, then a short break before questions and discussions about what we have learnt, with the workshop concluding around 8:15pm depending on the volume of questions.

We have lowered our event prices to make them more affordable within the current landscape but we understand that the cost may still be prohibitive for some. Please get in touch with us directly at info@ypia.co.uk if you'd like to attend but find the ticket price prohibitive.
